Cali Cat Behavior Problems and Health

Several weeks ago someone threw a cat over the fence and left. The cat was not that old and was abandoned, literally throw out into the cold cruel world full of predators. Such as, bigger cats, dogs and people who are mean to defenseless animals.

This cat kept coming around hanging out in my back yard. After several days I tried to pet him but he seemed to always be on edge and ready to run. So I went and bought some cat food, the good nutritional kind. I could tell that the cat had not been eating very well.

One day I went in the back yard and put some food in a container and motioned to the cat and he slowly approached very cautiously. He came closer a few inches at a time until he was at the bowl with the food in it. He started to eat the food and I started to pet him. Although,

still on the verge to make a quick getaway, he let me pet him while he ate.

Eventually, he adopted me and would come to the door and make cat noises. The reason, I said make cat noises is because he was never taught how to meow. Then when I would go out in the back yard he would follow me everywhere I went and let me know that he wanted to be petted. He would come to the door and make the cat noise when he was hungry.

He would curl up on the back porch at night , so I put a basket with a pillow in it for him to sleep in. This worked find until the wind started to blow and send his basket and pillow to the other end of the yard. By now it was time to give the cat a name. So I named him Cali.

One night I was awaken by this screeching cat howling sound. I though, is Cali in trouble? So , I got up and went outside and a large cat with a big head was chasing Cali around the backyard. I chased the cat away and Cali took off.

The next day Cali came by for his supplemental meal and petting. I thought about how unstable the basket and the pillow was for Cali. So I decided to to use a folding table and make an A Frame structure and anchored it with a water hose. I covered it with a piece of waterproof tarp. Cali seemed to Like his "Condo".

Cali still lives in his condo and he knows how to sit and he tries to talk. He is a very smart cat. You can show him something one time and he can do it. Cali has adopted me and he is a healthy cat that has "personality. Yes Cali is my little Lion.
