Computer Vision Syndrome Symptoms Problems Prevention

Some computer users are at risk for developing Computer Vision Syndrome, this is possible when a person is reading for extended periods of time, web surfing , playing video games, watching videos,
So if you stare at a light emitting source such as with a computer, researchers found that document use is one of the highest risk category of screen use simply because of the digital screen text also the fuzzy edges make the eyes harder to focus on the content.
In the case of internet surfers searching for information and engaging in social network sites can lead to extended periods, which causes many users to not take enough so viewing all of the material in text based form or imagery on the screen causes eye strain.
For those who play video games many of the computer monitor screens require long extended periods of time without breaks causing intense concentration on the action which leads to risk of computer vision syndrome.
Those who like to watch DVD’s and video movies also can spend hours and hours watching recorded material for long durations with out breaks and the television screen has a light that emits which could cause eyes to feel fatigue and stress.
The increase your risk for developing Computer Vision Syndrome can come from aging, due to weaker eye muscles as well as dehydration, eyes dry out without enough water intake, and then the vision problems caused by use of corrective lenses can help with the eye sight as in the case of contact lenses which need to be removed regularly after prolonged use.
According to a survey done by the London Hazards Centre, people are working at a computer screen for more than six hours a day, and this has caused over 70 per cent to experience visual problems. In a report published by the University of California’s Berkeley School of Optometry, that 30 per cent of American schoolchildren are experiencing stress on their eyes by using computers.
Parents can look for symptoms from children use of computers on a daily basis, any signs of eye discomfort or blurred vision as well as headaches is something that needs to be checked out. Some solutions may be to check the lighting in the room as well as reducing glare on the computer screen, close any curtains on windows to protect monitor with glare screens.
Other things to consider is the height of the computer workstation the size of the child can be fit for the monitor and keyboard along with an adjustable chair a foot stool may be necessary. Limit the amount of time the family is on the computer and make sure that everyone takes frequent breaks for instance a to minute break will allow the eyes to rest and minimize eye irritation, remember to blink eyes more often.
Have an eye exam regularly so that any vision problems can be detected immediately, An eye doctor can detect any hidden conditions that may cause eye strain.

This is true. Most of us, regardless of age, probably cannot live without computers. Yet we are also exposed to some risks. Thanks for this hub.
Hi wordsscriber,
1.
- schoolchildren are experiencing stress on their eyes by using computers -If you suspect you have CVS, see your doctor.*any signs of eye discomfort or blurred vision as well as headaches.
2.
- the screen causes eye strain... Staring at direct sources of light is hazardous, and can lead to CVS.
the light that illuminates the screen shines directly into your eyes. cause eyes to feel fatigue and stress.
Most every other source of light we incur is first reflected off an object, entering our eyes at a lower amplitude.
3.
- Blink: Making a conscious effort to blink more often while working at the computer will build a healthy habit sure to make your workday more comfortable
(eyes dry out without enough water intake)
4.
- Staring at a screen for an extended period of time is the leading cause of CVS. Take a Break: If you must work an entire day in front of the computer, make sure you take at least a 5 minute break every hour, and allow your eyes to relax. Looking out the window works great.
Very useful information Thanks.
