cosmetic surgery face hate low self esteem body image

cosmetic and plastic surgery

Before undergoing any type of reconstructive surgery it is advisable to see a psychiatrist and talk through some issues as to why you may have a poor self image. Low self esteem is the motivating factor behind many woman and men feeling the need to go under the knife. They think that if they get plastic surgery they will solve all their problems.

Instead they create more problems by feeling even more insecure than they did before they had the procedure done. Plastic surgeons are required to disclose the risks involved and will turn a patient away if they feel that there are psychological issues that need to be resolved first.

According to the American Psychological Association, studies determine how cosmetic surgery impacts quality of life, relationships and self-esteem on a long-term basis.

Improving your self image with plastic surgery but if that perception of how we look is distorted one could end up with depression and feelings of worthlessness. The side effects of cosmetic plastic surgery affects each person differently depending on how successful the surgery turns out.

Psychological Effects of Changing Your Body

One would wonder if the trauma of changing ones body parts will effect the brain in a negative way without realizing it. One will always wonder if they are good enough and become more obsessed with being perfect. Social acceptance is something that everyone wants but patients who have a strong need to look like a celebrity or someone they perceive to be more beautiful could lead to a case of needing more and more attention from others.

The need for approval and the validation that one is okay or better than average. This type of psychological mental illness can be harmful to a persons with poor body image and has caused some to commit suicide.

The pressure to be perfect the pressure to be accepted could be too much to handle. To cure this dilemma patients need to set limits. How much plastic surgery is enough. Most cases lead to obsession and the number of surgeries continue compound onto the next as each passing year goes by.

Is the media to blame, is the worlds obsession with celebrities to blame, we will never know for sure but as long as young woman and men feel the need to change themselves into something other than what they really are doctors will continue to profit off the vanity of the masses.
