Interestingly the Greenbrier is a 4 star, triple AAA Five Diamond Award winning luxury resort located in the town of White Sulphur Springs in Greenbrier County, West Virginia, United States. As you are probably aware it has been owned by the Chesapeake Ohio Railway with its successors currently being CSX Corporation as you probably heard the hotel faced bankruptcy in 2009 so a local entrepreneur Jim Justice bought the property.

It has been reported that the last U.S. president to stay at The Greenbrier was Dwight Eisenhower. In history the Greenbrier was a massive underground bunker that was meant to serve as an emergency shelter for the United States Congress during the Cold War. Many who have stayed at this luxury resort say that the service is great and so is the food.

The newly opened casino requires men to wear jackets to keep the upscale feel. The décor is old fashioned with pastel colors, dark woods, with the staff wearing nostalgic attire. The place has changed since being under new management. Also the PGA Tour and The Greenbrier have entered a six-year agreement, through 2015, whereby the historic West Virginia resort will sponsor and host The Greenbrier Classic as part of the FedExCup.

The new tournament will be held on The Old White Course, The Greenbrier's original of four golf courses, dating back to 1914. Keeping to the style of luxury and leisure, with tea served at 4:15 p.m and jackets and ties are expected at dinner. You will like the spacious 682 rooms on 6,750 acres.

There is a need to return these historic hotels to have more modern amenities like Wi-Fi or coffee makers, the new owner has added a sleek, leather steakhouse called Prime 44 West, then there is an Asian fusion restaurant as well as guests can play paintball. Notably the esort hosted concerts at the country fairgrounds by country music acts like Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts.

Many have found one of the major attractions being the 40,000-square-foot casino. The Greenbrier Hotel is a National Historic Landmark and West Virginia's only five-star resort which is located on 6500 acres, the resort has fine dining and lodging, mineral water spas, 30 distinctive shops, an Art colony and over 50 recreational activities including 54 holes of championship golf.

You will be able to rediscover America's Finest Resort Greenbrier is Making History Again since the facility has been renovated it has also been used as a data storage facility for the private sector. Visitors can tour the now declassified facilities, now known as The Bunker.

Studies show that the resort has a significant place in golf history because the original nine holes were designed by Alexander H. Findlay and golf legend Sam Snead held the position of the resort's emeritus pro. In 1979 the Greenbrier was the site of the first Ryder Cup. It has also been reported that the Greenbrier hosted the 1994 Solheim Cup making The Greenbrier the first of only two locations to have hosted both the Ryder and Solheim Cups.
